I can recall as a small child sweating occasionally, but it wasn't until my early twenties that I started to sweat persistently to the point of having to change out of soiled clothing and even hiding the sweat stains by wearing dark colored apparel. I was so confused and didn't understand why this was happening to me. Even worst, my social life became more challenging as I was constantly inhibited by what I thought others might say if they noticed or smelled me. Additionally, during this particular time, I was starting to be more comfortable with my own identity and coming out of my shell. Needless to say, I was taken aback as I felt I was being punished for something beyond me. Hyperhidrosis is excessive sweating that can occur in the hands, feet, face, underarms, head and other areas of the body. For more information regarding hyperhidrosis visit the International Hyperhidrosis Society website.
Part of my mission is to help others share their hyperhidrosis story and bring more awareness to this condition. I ultimately want those whom are suffering in silence to know they're not alone and to reach out and discover freedom by using the power of their voice. Although I continue to deal with excessive sweat, my confidence is somewhat boosted whenever I share my journey. I'm encouraged to stay active and no longer hide behind the fear and shame of dealing with excessive sweat and its potential effects.
How It Came To Be
This project unfolded one day while showering. Feeling a little low, I looked within to lift my mood, I began to sing the words that entered my spirit while channelling all of my thoughts and energy and this song came to be. I've always enjoyed using my imagination to create art and design; and because excessive sweat is a part of my journey, the song came about naturally.
